Friesens is one of the most diversified book manufacturing plants in North America offering a full complement of services from black/white text, duotone, and four-color process printing, to a wide range of binding and packaging solutions. Friesens book division is driven by two large format Timson web presses for black and white text work, three 50” Man Roland presses and a 73” Man Roland perfecting press for text that is printed four color process. The 73” press is one of the largest sheet fed four color perfecting presses in the world and the first installation for this press in North America. This all translates to an efficient cost structure and significant capacity for a large volume of work.

Friesens binding capabilities include lay flat paperback, notch paperback, sewn paperback, adhesive casebind, sewn casebind, three piece casebind, saddle stitch, wire-O, concealed wire-o, spiral, cerlox (plastic comb) bind, flexibind, and a variety of hand binding solutions. Friesens is FSC certified and offers a broad range of recycled (including 100% PCW text papers) and FSC papers and cover choices. It is no problem producing a fully FSC compliant book at Friesens.

Friesens breadth of offerings goes beyond traditional book manufacturing; short-run digital printing and binding using the HP Indigo press platform, Friesen Press offering one-stop shopping for self-publishers, Fast Print division for a wide range of box and slipcase offerings, and think4D for innovative packaging solutions.

Friesens is, in the true sense of the term, a full-service book and packaging solutions provider. Technologically adept and up to date, Friesens annually goes through a deep introspection process to determine capital requirements to keep their world-class facility up to date and viable. Among other initiatives, Friesens is now combining their two book printing plants in Altona to produce what will be one of the most advanced and state of the art book manufacturing facilities in North America.
